This Saturday, August 16th, will be a preview event for the Brew Werks during Art Beat from 12p – 8p. We will have a large area of the sidewalk blocked off for a beer garden where you can sample our brews and food. Here’s how it will work:
-Those with a Brew Werks logo glass get access to one tasting of each of 5 beers while supplies last. We’ve got our 1865 Amber, 9 Aye Black IPA, Colonel Eddie Oatmeal Stout, Cascades Wheat Beer, Mr Elegante Smoked Porter.
-Mug club members will be able to access an experimental Irish Red as well
-Logo glasses will be available for $10 (5 tastings included) if you didn’t pick one up during our crowdfunding campaign
-We’ll have a 1/4 grilled cheese, scoop of Mac & Cheese, and truffle combo for $5. This will give everyone a good sampling of our food menu
-Our front door will be open for people to come in and check out the space. T-shirts will be available for sale as well. Crowdfunding items will be available for pick up (t-shirts, logo glasses, coasters, etc…). Our mugs aren’t all finished yet but we hope to have enough on hand for folks to start picking theirs out!
-In keeping with our giving back ethos, we will be donating 10% of the proceeds from Saturdays food and beverage sales (split evenly) to our 3 community partners: The Music Village, La Casa de Amistad, Inc., and Neighborhood Resources Connection.
As to when we will open that is still up in the air. Believe us, we are just as frustrated about this (and excited to open) as your are Here are the current hurdles we’re facing
-Our RO installer, Complete Water Solutions, started work 2 weeks ago but has yet to properly complete the install meaning we don’t have the water we need to brew. They have not been able to give us anything firm on when the work will be completed which is frustrating and disappointing
-Our landlord, Banko Capital (please call 574-252-7091 to voice your concerns), has repeatedly failed to start or finish work in a timely fashion (despite signing a lease in January we still don’t have an occupancy permit) which is the main reason we are so far behind. Right now we’re waiting for them to install a new door in the alleyway, fix the handicap bars in the bathroom, and update the space to have proper fire alarm equipment including pull stations, strobes and emergency lights. After giving them a bid on July 22nd they still have done nothing and now the contractor has informed us they are 3 weeks out to even start the work. We’re talking with other groups to see if the work can be done faster but don’t have anything firm yet
As anyone who has ever tried to start something knows, it isn’t easy but our team remains dedicated to making great beer, serving delicious, locally-sourced food and working with our fans, customers, Brew Werkers and community partners to Build a stronger community, one brew at a time.
